To support fee transparency in the Private Healhcare market Consultants and Private Hospitals are compelled to clearly publish the costs of investigation and treatment to patients who wish to pay for their care. The area of “fee maxima” is a complex one where individual doctors and hospitals may charge differing amounts for identical or similar treatments. Similarly insurance companies may choose to reimburse these individuals or institutions according their own, often unique fee schedules. It is important that where confusion or lack of clarity concerning such matters exists within a patient’s mind, that they contact their insurer for more information. In the case of “self-pay” patients the doctor’s rooms or hospital at which any investigation or treatment is taking place, may be directly contacted for further detalis.

Common Fees for visits to Consulting Rooms
 
Initial Consultation        £200
Follow-up Consultation £150
Rigid Sigmoidoscopy    £100
 
Other in-hospital fees for insured patients will be charged according to published fee schedules which may vary between providers.
 
For all self-paying, (uninsured) patients, in-hospital costs may vary according to procedures undertaken. Full details of these costs and services may be obtained from either:

Payments for uninsured patients or for items not covered by an insurance company should be made within 28 days of receipt of an invoice. Insurance companies usually inform patients should they have an excess to pay, although this may not always be the case.
Payment on an account can be made in two ways.
