Unusual Hernia

Unusual Hernias: Epigastric, Spigelian and Lumbar

Occasionally defects between the muscles and tendons of the abdominal wall become noticeable as the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) is pushed through forming a swelling.

They are rare, small, often painful and difficult to diagnose. They usually only contain fat but other intra-abdominal organs may rarely be involved.
